All you need to do in this smart mode is attach the probes, and it will work. Upgraded & Convenient: Replace the gear knob with 2 buttons, use it like a smartphone. More convenient than a meter with only 1 function button, you can manually select the function to the left or right. The jack is on the front, so the multimeter can be placed upright. Safety First: The kit comes in a semi-hard zipped case, the multi meter has a snug rubber case that fits around the back and sides for additional protection.
